It’s Time to Start Planning Your Holiday Shopping

It’s almost that time of year again.  Time to begin planning your holiday shopping.  It doesn’t come easy for everyone, but if you are one of the few that has this down, hats off to you!

First I recommend making a list of everyone you will be gifting.  There are plenty of online printable holiday shopping list planners, but I like to use lined paper.  I write the person’s name in pen and leave a blank line under their name.  I put my people in order, I start with my family and then go on to extended family members.  I like to list friends, teachers and others after.

Next, I brainstorm on what types of things I think everyone on the list would like.  What I might like to get them or ideas I need to investigate further. This is where I like to write in pencil, on the line under the gift receiver’s name.

Once an item has been purchased, I like to erase what I have written in pencil, change it to pen and mark where I have hidden the gift.  **This is key, as I have a tendency to lose items in my closet or forget which closet I have buried purchased gifts.  I also like to staple receipts to this paper list.  I have put receipts in an envelope in the past, and lost the envelope.  (It’s hard being me.)

Once the person on my list has a complete gift, purchased and put away somewhere in my house, I cross off their name completely with pen.  This makes me feel like I have completed something great.  I am a list maker and I love the feeling of crossing off anything on my list.

Now, off to make my list…and brainstorm….

Sanding Blocks Are A Great Add-On to Your Pick Punch Purchase

Make sure you check out our sanding blocks before you check out of our online store!

small-four-stage-sanding-block-10This is our small four-stage sanding block $2.50.  It has been specially designed for finishing guitar picks with 4 special surfaces:  rough, medium fine, fine, buffing.  And, this sanding block was designed to fit inside the handle of the Pick Punch tool! You can sand smooth bevels on the edges of your guitar picks and also sand the sides of the picks for more grip.

large-four-stage-sanding-block-33This is our large four stage sanding block $4.99. This one also has the 4 special sanding surfaces.  Another use for sanding blocks. With just a ballpoint pen you can create custom stamps. Also when the sanding block wears out you can cut them and use all four sides for several custom stamps.

Screenshot 2015-10-05 at 4.46.18 PMThis is our course large sanding block $4.99.  This specially designed Large Pick Punch sanding block has the same coarse sanding surface on all four sides (same as side 1 on the 4 stage sanding blocks). This sanding block is great for all the rough edge bevels sometimes desired.

Consider buying all three sanding blocks. Keep one inside the punch so there is always one handy. The large sanding blocks are great for larger projects. We found that side 1 is used more than the other sides and therefore will wear out quicker so we created a large sanding block to handle those larger projects. If you are not sure which to get for gift giving consider all three to cover all situations.

Music Videos

mtv After watching the VMA’s a few weeks ago, I can’t stop watching music videos…I keep searching for my favorite artists, and looking up the best places to view them.  Gone are the good ol’ days of MTV.  That was so easy.  Just sit down in front of the tube, and you were guaranteed to see some of your favorites within the hour.   I looked at my online guide to see when MTV plays videos.  It’s palladiamostly TV shows and not much music.  I have found I really love Palladia.  I can watch whoever is on.  Even if I may not be a huge fan of the artist, and it’s not always music videos.. something about the way Palladia presents their music is really great.  I wonder where everyone is going to watch their favorite artists these days?

My Thoughts on the VMA’s

moonmanI am not sure where to start.  Ok, how about this.  It’s a really good thing my kids weren’t into watching the show, because between Miley’s outfits and the 300 trojan commercials, or the references to marijuana.. I would have had a ton of explaining to do.  I remember as a kid waiting up to watch the VMA’s.  I was excited to see the performances, I was excited to see what all of my favorite groups were wearing.  Now a days, well there’s little left to imagination on the clothing front, and the performances..well let’s just say thank goodness for DVR’s.  I’m not 100% sure anything about a video was ever mentioned.  Were videos even discussed?  What I can recall, what I can not un-see, would be Miley’s outfit choices. And weird, weird performances.  I suppose, this is what MTV wants. Us talking the next day about all the craziness from the night before.  I guess, if the saying is “sex, drugs & rock and roll” and that is what the VMA’s are going for…well then they knocked it out of the park!

Back to School Gifts are Nice

I’m thinking of sending my cousin a pick punch for his “back to school gift”..not that I ever give back to school gifts,  but I’m thinking he could probably use some cool factor help. He’s a sophomore this year and it will be his first year in a fraternity house.  I’m not even sure if he plays an instrument, but I am sure if he has one of these baby’s on his desk it will amp up his game. Maybe make him look better to the ladies…
You’re welcome for the great idea:)
